Sydney Bowman was born in Salt Lake City, Utah with a love of drawing. Her mother, an artist as well, provided Sydney proper artist tools and supplies to experiment with at a very early age. Her talents developed quickly, so much so that Sydney started teaching arts and crafts at 13 in a middle school and by the age of 15 was providing drawing lessons at a community center.

Though highly sought after for commissions and teaching, Sydney continued her passion for art through High School and College receiving full scholarship offers to Utah State University, Snow College, and Brigham Young University. She received her BFA from BYU and has been featured in several shows and received numerous awards. She has been represented by Tivoli Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT, Herb Smalley's Canyon Collection in Santa Fe, NM, Left Bank Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT, IAO Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT, and A-Gallery, in Salt Lake City, UT.

Sydney has been teaching privately for over 30 years while helping numerous youth achieve scholarships, awards, and artistic skill. She also taught for BYU-Salt Lake for 17 years. She teaches all mediums, styles, and subject matters according to the desires of the student, whom she coaches and mentors.

Sydney's recent subjects have been large format hyper-realistic still-life pieces which deal with fruits, vessels, glass (for the properties of light, reflection, refraction, diffraction, distortion and dimension) and color, coordinating with the chakras, color healing and therapies, color psychology, and synesthetic experience. Sydney "tastes" color and wants others to have a deeper, multisensory experience with the aesthetics of life. By doing so, she believes they not only live and sense more fully but also respond more wholly and thereby resonate to a higher universal energy that constantly bathes us and enriches us, trying to teach us to release ourselves from lower to higher. By consuming rich color and harmonizing with each color, we begin to realize "As above, so below."

Sydney's direction recently has been to reveal New Testament stories that focus on the quality and feeling of interactive relationships.

I want to teach people how to see beauty through color once again and learn how to feel through all the senses. I want people who see my art to feel fully alive and bathed in divinity.
